From an intense velvety and scarlet color, this complex and ample wine delivers superb fruit (bilberry, red currant, cheery) and floral (violet) notes verging on liquorice, pepper, fur and sous-bois. Richly tannic, spicy and straightforward.

 

 

 

 

 

Poisot     Corton Grand Cru, Les Bressandes     2009 (BR-PO-G-CLBS-09)

Corton is the only Red Grand cru from the Côte de Beaune. This parcel, located at the bottom of the famous Corton hillside, is planted with vines 50 and 60 years old. This old vineyard produces a superb, low yield wine with the density and power typical of the Corton terroir and the elegance and finesse only Pinot noir can provide.

An intense, velvety purple color wine, displaying layers of red and black fruits, expressing power and elegance and terrific length.

Parcel area : 0,22 ha (0,5 acres)  –  Chalky clay-like soil
For centuries Pommard has been considered the typical burgundy. This “Rugiens” is no exception, with its deep red colour, powerfully aromatic, solid and trustworthy. It delivers a generous ring and fills the mouth as it fills the glass

This parcel benefits from the rich limestone soil which gives the elegance, intensity and firm structure typical of Pinot noir. Opulent, richly tannic, round and complex, “Les Caillerets” is considered the prototype of Volnay wines  and certainly its most famous terroir.

Time, terroir and methods of vinification have all combined to create a wine that is both rich and sensitive. Colour is a deep, dark red mauve; aromas are redolent of blackberry, bilberry,cherry pit and ripe plum. Wild and feline notes underline while it will tends towards leather, chocolate and pepper.

 

 

 

 

 

Capitain-Gagnerot     Ladoix 1er Cru, La Micaude – Monopole     2008 (BR-CG-P-LXLM-08)

This wine is exclusive to the domaine as a “monopole”. The 18 year old vines are grown on the gravelly, chalky clay-like soil from the Bajocian era, on top of fossilised  scree made of white ollite (south end of the Côte de Nuits)

A well-structured wine with black fruit, blackcurrant and blackberry aromas. Robust and structured, this is a racy and elegant wine.

 

 

 

 

Virely-Rougeot     Pommard 1er Cru, Les Arvelets     2009 (BR-VR-P-POLA-09)

Produced in an area of hard calcareous soil, with marly-limestone and alluvial and silts deposits, the grapes of this fine Pommard are hand-picked while the ageing in oak barrels is performed until the end of the malo-lactic fermentation.

This wine offers a lot of finesse and delicacy, with very supple tannins while the notes of red fruits dominate. It is a typical Pommard par excellence.

 

 

 

 

Virely-Rougeot     Pommard 1er Cru, Les Chanlins Bas     2007 (BR-VR-P-POLB-07)

Produced in an area of hard calcareous soil, with marly-limestone and alluvial and silts deposits, the grapes of this fine Pommard are hand-picked while the ageing in oak barrels is performed until the end of the malo-lactic fermentation.

Awine of great structure with nice notes of red fruits that dominate.

Volnay has always been thought of as the most feminine of burgundy wine but some of its terroirs alter this judgement with more vigorous and muscular versions. This”Santenots” has an immediate appeal  with a fresh attack and a warm finish, fresh fruit flavor and a heady aroma.

Produced from a clay-limestone type of soil, right next to the famous Beaune Premier Cru “Clos des Mouches”, this appellation is exclusive to domaine Virely-Rougeot and covers 1 hectare (2.5 acres)

This Monopole is the perfect example of the typical elegance of Beaune wines, with a pleasant palate and fruity notes, a good density and harmony.

 

 

 

 

 

Vincent Prunier     Saint Aubin 1er Cru, Les Combes     2009 (BR-VP-P-SALC-09)

This wine is dark garnet with strawberry cheeks. Its aromas are redolent of blackcurrant and blackberry. These are set off by spicy notes, close to mocha.

In the mouth it is fat and silky with a lively finish.

This parcel starts in « Les Grands Clos » to end in « Les Têtes de Clos”. Soils vary progressively to produce a very complex wine with a flattering bouquet and a nice aromatic touch, a long and intense finish with fine tannins

Colour is a dark but brilliant black-cherry. The bouquet evokes rose petals, peony, violet, red fruits and a hint of liquorice. Firm but discreet tannins make for a body that is supple, finely-textured and well built over a long finish
